If you're required to read this book I guess my review is irrelevant. I think it does this rather well, and it uses lots of contemporary examples so that the material feels relevant. That being said, I found the practice problems to be way too easy -- they just seek to verify that you read the chapter, not that you understand it. The homework my professor assigned -- which were of his original creation -- were far more challenging. And truth be told, I maybe touched the book three times during the whole semester.
My professor covered everything in it -- an more -- in good enough detail. I had to buy a financial dictionary to look up terms as I went, as it is so hard to find useful information in the book. If you did well in accounting as an undergrad you may be fine with this text. Otherwise, you might need additional resources or a very good teacher to accompany it. I really enjoyed reading this textbook. There are a few typos and miscalculations, as well as a lackluster organization. Once you get past that, the actual text is easy to read and understand.
The info-graphics are great for quick reference. Each "module" covers accounting topics from the perspective of a different company. The page numbering is innovative, but more confusing than anything. Page 5 is actually since it is page 5 of module 1. Thus, page 93 might actually be I mention this so that when your professor assigns you problem of module 3 you don't actually do all the questions between andbut rather, just I learned from experience on that one.
